Good Practices

In this section, we've compiled content and guidelines to ensure safe and efficient port operations. The goal is to share support materials that reinforce best practices for maneuvering, maintenance, and other daily pilotage procedures.

Mooring Safety

Mooring is one of the most critical and high-risk operations at the ship-port interface. An improperly performed procedure not only threatens the safety of the crew and shoreside operators but can also cause significant damage to the vessel, the terminal, and the environment.

The Maritime Safety Committee has been continuously working to improve the safety of mooring operations. These efforts aim to prevent accidents and ensure safer working conditions for both the crew and shore teams, resulting in the creation of operational guidelines.

To support the implementation of these guidelines and reinforce a safety culture in practice, the video series below demonstrates the key aspects of a safe mooring operation. The guides cover everything from planning and execution to maintenance and equipment selection, in alignment with international standards.
